Birgit Cox, PhD, LCPC

Birgit Cox         I see my work with people as helping them to live happier and more
fulfilling lives.   Because we are all different my services are highly individualized, and I do not have a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

My training and experience with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) lead me to use this therapeutic model most often. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is a means of learning to change disturbing and unproductive thoughts.  Since our thoughts affect our feelings and influence our behaviors, learning to change your thinking helps you feel and act differently.

Family history and family dynamics are important influences on most of us, and I take these into account in the clinical work, both with individuals and with couples and families.

I take a collaborative approach to working with you.  Together, we will first understand your issues and then find better ways of coping, by learning and practicing skills that will allow you to make long-term changes in your life.

I hold a PhD in Psychology from Northcentral University, and I am licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of
Maryland. I treat adults and adolescents, and conduct individual,
couple, and family therapy.

To contact me, you can send me an email, or call me at

        Thank you.
